Glued laminated wood has become widespread in the modern woodworking industry. But the gluing operation requires a signifi cant amount of time to cure the adhesive. To intensify this process, various types of heating are most often used, which are energy- consuming. In this regard, the development of new energy-effi cient ways to intensify gluing is relevant. One of these methods is the effect of aeroionization. The paper considers the infl uence of aeroionization on the process of gluing solid wood with PVA glue. The analysis of this process was carried out using IR-Fourier spectroscopy using the Attenuated Total Refl ection (ATR) method. The purpose of the work is to research the chemical composition of polyvinyl acetate (PVA)–based adhesives, as well as changes in the composition of the cured adhesive layer when gluing solid wood, under the infl uence of aeroionization. The results obtained suggest that the effect of aeroionization on the adhesive joint does not affect the curing chemistry of the PVA glue. But it promotes the process of dehydration and densifi cation of the crystalline structure of the polymer. This, in turn, reduces the time spent on curing the adhesive layer and increases the strength characteristics of the adhesive joint. |
