The article describes a method for obtaining composite materials with a wavy internal structure from rotary-cut veneer of softwood species, which are intended to be used for decorative fi nishing of residential premises. The bright expressiveness of the texture is formed by a combination of layers of rotary-cut veneer of different colors and species, such as birch and alder. The proposed method is characterized by gluing a package of rotary-cut veneer in a press with fl at board, and the lower and upper additional elements of rotary-cut veneer in the shape of pyramids are placed inside the glued package. The amount of bending of the rotary-cut veneer layers is determined by the size, number of lower and upper additional elements, and the distance between them. When creating a wavy structure with additional internal elements, minor internal cavities are formed due to the design features, which can later be fi lled with putty. The presence of cavities leads to a slight decrease in density and strength, which is not signifi cant for materials that are later used as decorative fi nishes. It has been established that the decrease in density due to the presence of cavities is from 610 to 550 kg/m3, or by 10 %. The resulting internal wavy structure signifi cantly improves the appearance of this material and allows for the wider use of underutilized softwood with a uniform texture, making the wood texture vibrant and expressive.
