Materials capable of sorbing boron(III) ions were obtained from chitosan and N,O-(2,3-dihydroxy)propylchitosan (HPC). The maximum amount of boron (3.52 mmol g-1) is extracted by chitosan at pH 4, whereas the sorption capacity for HPC at pH 4 and 13 is 1.52 and 1.97 mmol g-1, respectively. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York.en
