In the framework of the concept of crystons - carriers of plastic deformation under the conditions of strong interaction between dislocations - an explanation is suggested for the experimentally observed orientation relationships that do not coincide with the Kurdjumov-Sachs relationships. The minimal cross-sectional size of crystons is found. It is shown that the relaxation stage of the formation of a packet martensite crystal with {557}γ habits may be associated with crystons of two types containing dislocations of only one or of two slip systems. This conclusion is the key one for the interpretation of relative orientations of adjacent laths in packet martensite crystals. Prospects of the further application of the cryston approach in the physics of plastic deformation are considered briefly.en
