Abstract: Sorption of vanadium polyoxo compounds onto a carbon sorbent modified with a quaternary ammonium compound, didecyldimethylammonium chloride, was studied. A flowsheet was suggested for selective recovery of vanadium from a solution containing iron, nickel, copper, potassium, calcium, and magnesium compounds. The influence of the solution acidity on the completeness of the recovery of vanadium compounds was demonstrated. Optimum conditions were found for the vanadium sorption onto the modified carbon sorbent, and a procedure for preparing vanadium pentoxide of improved quality (99% pure) was suggested. The effect of the alkalizing agent on the sorption process and purity of the final product was determined. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
