Abstract: In this work, we have considered different variants of the formation of martensite crystals upon the α–ε transformation caused by the deformation of planes {112}α that leads to the symmetry of atomic arrangement typical of the basal planes {0001} ε of the ε phase within the dynamic theory of martensitic transformations. It has been shown that there are dislocation nucleation centers that facilitate the start of the wave process responsible for the initiation of this deformation. The relatively rarely observed parallelism of three planes of different phases, namely, {112}α
{0001}ε
{112}γ, is interpreted as a consequence of the rapidly arising unstable intermediate state, which leads to the formation of coherently matched crystals of the γ and ε phases. The opportunity of the existence of the lattice parameter (Formula Presented.) that exceeds the lattice parameter of the α phase is noted. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
