Abstract: | In Mikhail Bulgakov's works color becomes dominant in elucidating the author's position, identifying the implicit semantics of images and situations. The article suggests a formula for determining the index of a color saturation (ICS) of the text, since the color concepts are an indicator of the author's connotation of the worldview. Black color for the author is a symbol of the violation of harmony, and the contrasting combination of black and white emphasizes the tragedy of individual characters and conveys the tragedy of contradictory time. In "The White guard" the basic semantic field of the concept BLACK is determined by the author's connotation and is consonant with apocalyptic motifs in Russian religious-philosophical tradition. Relatively low ICS of the concept BLACK in the "Life of Mr. de Moliere", explains the author's attempt to avoid the fate of his novel play "Servitude of hypocrites". In the "Theatrical novel (Notes of the deceased)" the semantic field of the concept traditionally includs BLACK and its folk connotation - "pertaining to the evil force". In "The Master and Margarita" the iconographic colour symbolism does not just characterize the writer's stylistic manner, but it also reveals hidden semantic accents - world view of real situations in fantastic arrangements through the prism of philosophical problems. The study of the semantic field of the concept BLACK in Bulgakov's fiction allowed us to trace the writer's ideological evolution. The abundance of achromatic colors with the dominant black color, gradual increase of the ICS black with the author's individual negative connotation due to the personal perception of the events and representing a moral-philosophical perspective of the text reflects the author's attitude to the characters and reveals the implicit semantics of individual episodes. |
